I can’t help it. I am a hopeless lovesick fool for the State Fair of Texas. I mean, really … I could show up, get mugged, my car stolen, and get shot in the foot, and still go back next year for a Fletcher’s Corny Dog. Promise.
I love the crowds. I love the animals. I love the overabundance of crazy ‘State of Texas Pride’. I love Big Tex, and the food (Lord, the FOOD!), The Texas Star, seeing all the new cars, the crazy people … I could go on and on. For some reason, we’ve missed the past 2 years. This is absolutely unacceptable to me. We were going this year. ::stomp:: … that was me putting my foot down.
The thing about the State Fair is … it’s expensive. REALLY expensive. Between admission, and parking, and food, and rides, and games … it’s really easy for a family of 3 to drop over $100 in just a couple of hours. Thankfully, we had nifty free carload passes that got the 3 of us, plus 2 extra family members in for free. Cha-ching!
So now, all we had to do was NOT spend $100 on food, lol. I insist on two things at the fair … a Fletcher’s corny dog (they’re world famous) and a ride of the Texas Star. Those two things right there will run you $11 per person … but they’re SO worth it! And there was no way I was taking The Mouse to his first State Fair without experiencing both.
The following pictures are actually from two separate trips to the fair … one on Friday night, and one on Sunday morning. It was CRAZY packed on Friday night … and since we had free carload passes, we decided to try again on Sunday to let The Mouse ride some kiddie rides, and play a game or two

[...] Speaking of fun things coming up, it’s September, which means the STATE FAIR is coming up soon … [...]
