To my Dear Sweet Mouse –
I can hardly believe that I’m sitting here writing this letter you already. It seems like just yesterday I was writing out your birth letter in your baby book … and now here it is, your first birthday already!
You are so different now then you were a year ago! You’re such a big boy now … gone is my infant … now you’re walking, and playing, and babbling all over the place. I miss your sweet soft mouse ‘squeak’ that gave you your nickname, your content little ‘sighs’ as your slept, the way your whole hand would curl around my little finger, and the tiny newborn onesies. Now you’re splashing in the bathtub, and chasing after Rosco, getting into EVERYTHING, eating ‘real’ food … you’re growing so fast!
You’re developing such a sweet little personality – you haven’t ever met a stranger, you are very much a ‘mommy’s boy’ though, and you love hugs! Your eyes light up when either mommy or daddy pick you up after work. You love swimming, swinging, and eating! Every time I try to cradle you in my arms, you now squirm away from me … begging to be put down so you can run off down the hallway to find something more interesting to play with. You’re becoming so independent … it makes me proud, and it makes me sad all in the same breath.
In a year of huge HUGE changes and milestones, we can’t even imagine what next year will bring … but we can’t wait to be there for it all, to see you grow into the wonderful person we already know you are.
