Summer Lovin’

I know that in about two months I’m going to be KICKING myself for writing this post … but right now, I can’t help it. It wants to come spilling out of my fingers and onto the screen. I’m jinxing myself in the worst way a Texan can. I’m about to write about how excited I am for Summer to be here.

I’m an idiot, I know.

I’m an idiot because inevitably in 90 days or so I’ll be writing another post like THIS. Or THIS. I promise you, come August, I’ll be a sweaty, whiny, pissy mess. I’ll be cursing sunscreen, and hot cars, and scalding park equipment and wondering when the fark this elusive season called ‘Fall’ is supposed to be showing up? You guys will open my post, and roll your eyes thinking, ‘Jeez is she whining about the heat AGAIN? She lives in Texas, why doesn’t she just get over it?’

This will happen. I promise. I’m sorry in advance.

But right now? Right now I am STOKED about Summer.

I’m super excited about having two little boys, and getting out there to do fun things with them. I want it all. Splash parks, and sprinklers, and fireworks, and popsicles and watermelon. I want sweaty evening walks. I want weekends where I don’t put the boys in anything but crocs, shorts and sunglasses. Trips to Sonic for slushes.

I know in a few weeks I’ll be so damn tired of the heat. But for the moment, I’m embracing it. Viva the sun! Bring it on! We’ve got some big plans for the next couple of weeks … vacations and swim lessons for the Mouse … it’s going to be a GREAT season.

Until it’s August. That’s usually when I start to get fed up with the heat, lol.

What about you? Excited? Not ready for the heat? Big plans? Lay it on me.

Oh, and have an awesome Monday!

Those look like fun waterslides and I’m majorly jealous we don’t have that in my area of the DFW :(

So ready! Today if my first official day home on Summer break with the boys and I’m pumped! We’ve already spent the morning in our little pool!

  3. It’s all fun and game until August roll around. Then I consider the move from Mississippi to Alaska.

  4. I adore hot weather. The only problem w/Chicago is that our summer season is so short. Maybe come September we can trade houses for a bit!

It’s continually summer here. Sometimes it’s weird because you keep waiting and waiting for fall and…it never shows! I do NOT miss cold weather and snow and coats. :) You’ve reminded me that there’s a splash pad on the Army post down the road I need to take the boys too. :) I <3 my perma-summer. :)

  6. I feel exactly the same way as you. So excited for summer to be here and all the water/spray park fun that gets to be had, but in a few months when we are dying for 100+ degree days for the past say… 60 days.. i’ll be complaining too. I guess we should just enjoy it while we can.

PS. The look on your sons face going down the slide w/ hubs is GREAT! True summer fun :)

Im looking forward to the summer. We have a lot of things planned this year and I can’t wait until we get to do them. The problem up in NE is that while the air may be really hot it takes a while for the water to warm up. Beaches are great if you can handle 90* heat and only 65* water. And yes, by the end of August I, too, will be looking forward to the fall. Always do.

My little guy is a little over a week younger than Froggy and has the same Crazy8 swimsuit (although he is so small for his age that the pants almost go to his ankles!) We are so ready for the summer here in the Northeast. I cant wait for my little bear to enjoy the pool all summer long!
