A WEEK OF REST

I know it feels like between this post and the one from a few weeks ago that we spend all this time with my parent’s at their house in San Antonio. We don’t, I promise. Usually, we’re lucky if we get down there two, maybe three times a year. But with the husband not working {and thus, no crazy retail/weekend work schedule to contend with} these days we’re like, ‘meh. why the hell not?’

So we pile in the car, throw the pug at a family member, and make the five hour trek down to their house. This past trip, we had a solid week with them. Which honestly, was the first full week off from work that I’ve had since we down there last Summer for a good stint. Next year, I’m promising our little family a ‘real’ vacation, but as vacations go … grandma and grandpa’s house isn’t such a bad deal.

You guys know the drill. We play in the pool. We eat. We lay around. The boys and the parents are both spoiled rotten. It’s basically the best thing ever. I usually gain 5 lbs {although I actually LOST weight this time around, go figure}. My mom never sits down. My husband takes an obscene amount of naps. I take an obscene amount of photos … of which I will now post.

Okay, I won’t put you through that, but here are few of my favs:

Yes, my parent’s house has AMAZING windows that lets in AMAZING light.

Sad news? I think I’ve broken the autofocus motor in my camera. ::sadface:: My 50 mm lens will work, since it’s manual focus only {yeah, manual focus SUCKS, but the photos are so much better that I use it primarily}, but the stock lens that came with the camera won’t focus at all now. ::double sad face:: I think it miiiiiight be time to invest in a new camera. I’ve had my Nikon D40 for 5 years now, and it’s been SO great, and with as many times as it’s been dropped, and knocked off of tables by babies … it’s actually a miracle it works at all. Maybe the birthday fairy will bring me some $ to put toward another one? {hinthint, nudgenudge to all family reading, lol}.

Every one have a GREAT weekend. Relax. Enjoy. Smile.

Gey if my parents house looked like that and I had an amazing relationship with my mom then I’d be spending lots of time with them too! Sadly this year there won’t be a family vacation for us. We have a lot aready planned for the summer and with my *very* limited vacation time its just not happening. What we are planning on doing is taking the vacation money and putting it towards a playroom in the basement for the kids and also next May we are doing our family vacation to Disney..ala credit ard points from my husbands business. We should be able to pay for plane tickets and hotel fare no problem.

I hope you get and amazing vacation next year as well.
