So long, Spring.

Well, it’s the beginning of May. Which in Texas-talk means one thing:

Summer is here.

We’ve been in the low 90s the past couple of days. It’s amazing the difference between 85* and 93* … and I have the sweat stains and mosquito bites to prove it. So we’ve invested in lot’s of sunscreen and lot’s of those little Off brand fans that you clip on to your shorts {which are SO sexy looking, but are the best thing I’ve found to keep the damn things off of me}. We’ve been enjoying the past two months of awesome weather so much, but it was inevitable that the heat would show up at some point. I’m just hoping that we’re not in for the heat wave we had last Summer. {shudder}

The kids don’t seem to notice much though. The Mouse sweats more than most high school football players … I swear the poor kid will need deodorant by 7 years old. The Froggy’s cheeks go beat red, and he’s a mosquito magnet, just like his momma. But none of this deters either one of them for running around the back yard like crazy men.

The pug stands guard, and then usually slinks inside to fall asleep on his pillow in the air conditioning.

I know that here in about 2 months or so I’ll be whining about needing a break from the oppressive heat, but right now? I’m kind of excited to get to start sharing some Summer activities with the boys.

Bring on the watermelon, fireworks and chlorine.
