Have we all heard of this absolutely fantastic website called Pinterest?
No? Good. Quick … run. Run FAST. ‘X’ out of that page NOW. You (and your sanity/bank account/free time) will thank me later. Promise.
You’re a glutton for punishment you say? Okay, stay. Here’s the scoop: Pinterest is kind of like a virtual bulletin or idea board. Except, you get to share all of your ideas with everyone else, and they share theirs with you. Say, you’re browsing Etsy and you find these beauties :
And you don’t want to buy them because you think to yourself, ‘I could SO totally do that myself’ … but you also don’t want to forget about them, or the idea either. So you ‘pin’ the photo to your Pinterest board. Then, your friend (who is following your Pinterest board) sees them and thinks they’re a great idea too, so she REPINS it onto her board and so on and so forth.
People pin photos of crafts, recipes, fashion, photos they like, home decorating ideas, party ideas and on and on and on. I can not even tell you how many things I have seen in the past week or so that I just HAVE to try. And even though they’re all ‘pinned’ on to my boards, I forget how many awesome ideas I have … and what materials I’ll need to create my own.
The type-A organizational freak in me is ::twitching:: every time a pin something new that I just HAVE to try. I just tried to write out a list and now IT’S freaking me out too. By themselves, a lot of these ‘must try’ ideas are pretty inexpensive and easy, but when you start adding them all up … it gets a little crazy.
Here are few ideas that I’ve found, that I’m wanting to try right away:
Favors for the Mouse’s splash party coming up … sponges cut into strips, and then rubber banded together to make fun toddler water toys. Genius. And SO easy!
Cupcake stand … super easy to make, and can be decorated to match your party theme!
I just love this in general … fun for a Summer door wreath!
Magnetic makeup frame … why on Earth have I not thought to do this before now? I can’t wait to get all of my makeup out of the tiny makeup bag that takes forever to find anything.
There are a MILLION ideas out there that I am loving for both the Mouse and the Froggy. I can’t wait to show you one of the new projects I’ve started working on for the Mouse’s room … and what I’m about to start working on for the Froggy. I wish I had known about this site when I was planning the Froggy’s room (or the Mouse’s too, for that matter) … but it probably saved me a LOT of money, not knowing. lol.
If you try to sign up at Pinterest.com, they will most likely tell you there is a waiting list. To get around this annoyance, you need to be invited by someone who already has an account. If you would like an invite from me, please email me your email address to thefroggyandthemouse @ gmail.com (with no spaces obviously). Or, you can leave it in the comments section. I only get a limited amount of invites to give out, so it’s first come, first served.

Do you know that if you click a picture on pinterest, it takes you to the original pinner then if you click it again- it takes you to the site where the picture was pinned from? Like the blog or whatever?
maybe probably you already knew that… but it took me a while to figure it out.
and the annoying thing- pictures pinned from flickr or some other photo site. I dont want a picture- I want the WHOLE tutorial and information!!!!

LOL Megan, yes, I did know that … and yes, it's so annoying when it takes you to a Flickr page, and not an actual tutorial. Grrr.

Elizabeth – no, you shouldn't have to have a FB account. I'm pretty sure my mom uses Pinterest, and she's definitely not on FB.
