Oh yes. It IS a competition.

The boys caught a stomach bug this past weekend. And when I say ‘boys’, I do mean all THREE boys. The Mouse, Froggy and the husband all woke up Sunday morning with unpleasant liquids shooting out of multiple places. This is my one day off, and I got to spend it scrubbing vomit out of the carseat, bleaching ALL THE THINGS, and listening to a chorus of whining.

And who was whining the loudest? I’ll give you three guesses and the first two don’t count. This is how a conversation went that afternoon:

Husband – I really hope you don’t catch this. I’ve never thrown up so much in my life.

Me – You’ve thrown up twice, I think you’re going to survive.

Husband – Ugh, I feel awful. You should just go get the biggest, sharpest knife you can find and stab me in the heart to put me out of my misery.

Me – REALLY? I think you’re being a little over-dramatic.

Husband – This feels AWFUL!

Me – YES HUSBAND. I am aware. Remember that time I was GROWING YOUR FIRST SON INSIDE OF ME and I had nausea for 10 weeks straight? Threw up multiple times a day every day? Lost fifteen lbs because of it?

Husband – This isn’t a competition.

Me – Yeah, you say that because if it was, my pity party just kicked your pity party’s ass.

It was kind of a rough Sunday. And the Mouse’s car seat will never be the same, lol. But – we made it through. Hopefully as you read this, I’m not laid up in the bathroom because I’ve caught it as well. {dear gawd, PLEASE}

    OMG, I’m so sorry. It’s a good thing men don’t have the babies, they just wouldn’t be able to handle it ;)

  2. I will admit… when we caught the stomach bug a couple months ago, it was so awful I had to send our little one away so we could throw up without having to parent as well. Oh man… those stomach cramps were unbearable. So… I kind of feel your hubby’s pain, even though men DO tend to whine the loudest. Hope you don’t get it!

  3. Oh no!! I had to go through the same thing in our house a few months back, kiddo, husband and mother all sick… it was not fun, so i feel your pain. Of course, Hubby is always the one complaining the most!!

    I hope you dont get sick too!!!

    Ugh!! I have been worried because Fifth Disease was going around our preschool. Just when I think we’ve made it through unscathed, my little one came home today telling me her BFF threw up on the playground! So hoping she (and we) don’t catch it! Hope you don’t either!
