You Are My Sunshine – a baby shower

I mentioned my little ‘mommy group’ that I’m apart of during yesterday’s Easter egg hunt post … did I also mention that of the 7 of us {well, 7 of us that live here in the area} FIVE are expecting babies between the months of April and July? Yeah, FIVE preggos all at the same time. And NO I am NOT one of them, lol. I can’t prove it, but I swear they all planned it together … somehow.

This past weekend, we held a small shower for three of the five ladies here at my house … and since we all know I’m incapable of holding a party that doesn’t NOT involve crazy amounts of coordinating details, we all know where I turned to plan it out, right?

It was like my @pinterest party planning board threw up all over my house … but in a good way.

Since we had ladies having boys and girls, we went with a ‘sunshine’ theme … and yellow all over the place. I chose this for two reasons: yellow is ‘gender neutral’ and it also looks good with my decor, lol. Laugh if you will, but this is level of craziness that I take my party planning to.

Just so we all know how insane I am, I found those straws on Etsy 5 days prior to the party and asked the seller to rush them because I HAD to have them. Yeah, it’s a sickness. But how cute are they?!

My amazing father-in-law {who is going through chef’s school right now} made the cake. That icing is like 90% butter. AMAZING.

Everything turned out amazing – everyone {other than the three guests of honor} brought munchies and we pretty much stuffed ourselves. I have to share the star of the show with you guys though …

This punch was AMAZING … so good. Very refreshing, very crisp … perfect for a baby shower! I found the recipe on Pinterest, but here it is for y’all as well:

1 cup Countrytime Lemonade mix {or the likes}
2 cups cold water
1 can of chilled pineapple juice {46 oz}
2 cans chilled Sprite {or the likes}

Mix together and add lemon slices to make pretty … FIN.

SO EASY and SO GOOD. With all the good food, it was unanimous that the punch was the winner. Now, Pin it and USE IT … I promise that you’ll love it. I kinda want to go make more myself, lol.

It was a great shower … and we have another one for the remaining ladies next month – squeee! Love me some parties!

  1. What a cute party! Good job with all the details!

  2. Danyiel J says:

    Awesome! The straws were definitely worth the rush.

  3. Once this kid makes an appearance I’m recreating this punch with Vodka. Mmmmmmmmm.

  4. You are so crafty! Awesome job! I’ll be cohosting a shower for my niece when she arrives, I’ve been pinning too!

  5. This is great! I’m going to use this for my bridal shower! Thanks!

  6. Absolutely stunning party! Love the yellow theme. I am constantly looking for the be-all-and-end-all of frostings. Would your father-in-law share the recipe for the cake frosting? Not to mention how great it is to follow a new passion at his (and MY) age. Thanks so much. Diane

  7. Do I use a can of frozen pinapple juice from “frozen section”? Or just 46oz of pinapple juice already made up?

  8. *pineapple

  9. Sarah Vint says:

    Do you think you could use pink lemonade?

  10. Thank you for the comment on Your pineapple lemonade punch looks delicious, and I have the recipe saved to make this summer. (I wish I had a glass of it right now!) thank you!

  11. hii the punch looks so yummy! i want to make it for my wedding! how many people does the recipe serve?

    • Tottums says:

      It would probably depend on how thirsty your guests were, lol. I made this for 8 people and it was GONE at the end of the party – it’s that good!

  12. I was just wondering, what kind of flower’s are in the pictures?

  13. I too would like to know if your father-in-law would share the recipe for the icing on that delicious looking cake. It looks absolutely DELICIOUS.

  14. Just popped over from “A Dust Bunny Life”….great recipe for kicking up the lemonade a notch….I just bought a lemonade stand for my granddaughter from Costco….she has had such great fun with it….Very creative party!!

  15. Thanks for sharing, I am going to make the punch this weekend for a baby shower. I can’t wait to try it.

  16. cheryl boykin says:

    by 2 cans of sprite, do you mean 2 individual serving cans??????

  17. Kaylee Ogden says:

    Just wondering , do I mix up the can of pineapple juice or just use the concentrate ?

  18. barbara says:

    We didn’t care for this punch. Followed the recipe exactly but it had too much pineapple juice taste and not enough lemonade.

  19. having a birthday party for our library next month. Bright yellow punch will be great with our colors

  20. 12oz cans of sprite? The volume in the picture seems much more than the recipe would make

  21. When you say one cup of lemonade mix, do you mean one scoop that comes with mix, or one measuring cup….I assume one measuring cup right?

  22. that sounds awesome, but i bet if you replaced the sprite with ginger ale, and added some lemon sherbet, it would be amazing.

  23. I was wondering, do you think i could use a lemonade concentrate instead? I’m not really fond of the mixes they are a bit tart for me… but I will use whatever works the best :)

  24. Beautiful pictures and adorable shower theme. We made this punch today. Waaayyy to much pineapple for us. In order not to waste it all we tripled the lemonade and used a whole bottle of Sprite. Kids & friends drank it but we wont make it again. If I wasnt so lazy today, I’d run to the store and buy and add a bottle of ginger ale, pint of sliced strawberries and some sherbert! YUM!

  25. I like the looks of this, but the recipe does not sound like it will make more than about 5 or 6 cups? am I miss reading the recipe ? I need to make a large bowl of punch, maybe two. I think would have to quadruple this for one bowl ? The picture looks great ! I would prob. skip the ice cubes and add frozen rings or frozen limes/lemons

  26. I sped through your post to find the recipe because I was in a pinch but the punch is DELICIOUS! Thanks for sharing!!! Now back to the party prep…

  27. Tress Padron says:

    I have made this 3xs, always doubling the recipe. I made it for going to the lake, a non alcoholic choice at a party and today for my son’s class. They are having a Texas Heritage Day and I’m calling it “Yellow Rose Punch”! Thanks for a great recipe.

  28. Have you ever frozen this punch before adding the Sprite? I like to have a slushy punch and this really sounds great.

  29. Love the punch idea, and you did a wonderful job with the party from what I see of the pictures. But I am interested in the cake you served. Do you have more pictures? Can I have the recipe, especially for the frosting?

  30. I made this Lemonade for my daughter’s grad party this weekend and it had a great flavor but maybe too dense. I toned it down with a few more cans of sprite then it went like hot cakes!! Thanks for sharing this because we will be making it again and again and then some more :)

  31. Could you use pink lemonade mix for a girl baby shower?

  32. Larissa says:

    Would you mind sharing where you got the printables for the You Are My Sunshine frame? We are hosting a similar shower for my cousin, and I’d love to have that!

  33. Your punch looks like perfection by the glassful! Stopping by to let you know I featured your fabulous recipe on my blog today: … Thanks for sharing! Enjoy a spectacular Independence Day!! :)

  34. I know this is a pretty old post but I was wonderingif you knew the approximate serving size for the punch. I’d love to serve it at an upcoming party with 30 or so guests.
