What a weekend. I don’t know when we have ever had so much fun, and been so exhausted out by one specific event … but the Mouse’s birthday weekend did it. It was a whirlwind of a weekend, but we had SO MUCH FUN together as a family!
The party was on Sunday (his real birthday) and went off without a hitch. It was an awesome time, albeit a little messy (from all the water turning our backyard into lake Tottums), but so worth it. We started out the celebration on Saturday evening with a trip to Legoland and Dinner at Rainforest Cafe, but I’ll blog about that later. On Saturday night, after the Mouse fell asleep, husband and I loaded up his room with balloons, so he woke to this:
He ran into our room the next morning (waking us up around 7am) and shouted, ‘Mom, Dada! There are ‘loons in my room!!!’ LOL. Then we all had to go into his room to see said ‘loons’ and count how many there were.
By the time I had woken up enough to be coherent, it was about 730 and the baking commenced. I kid you not, I did NOT sit down between that moment and 2pm when the party started. Baking, carving, cleaning, balloons, streamers, sprinklers, icing, cleaning, trips to the potty … it did.not.end. I was absolutely exhausted before the guests even arrived. And by 4pm, when most of the guests were starting to trickle out, it was all I could do to not sink down onto the kitchen floor and pass out.
The fruits of my labor:
Once everyone had headed out, it was time for presents! The haul was absolutely ridiculous. Our friends and family are wonderfully generous … the Mouse was in Heaven! His favorite present? I’ll just leave you with this photo. He didn’t take it off all evening. Not even when he crawled into bed.
Best. Birthday. Ever. <3
