A birthday party sneak peak … what I got accomplished this past weekend:
I don’t have them all *quite* finished, but I’d say about 80% are done now. They are SUPER easy. One quick hem along the top to connect the two colors, and then a seam down the middle. I just played with the paper’s tension as I hemmed to create the ruffles.
SUPER EASY.
Honestly, the most frustrating part of doing them was cutting all the streamers to length beforehand … which took forever. Also, even though I measured the spot where I want them to hang, I didn’t think about adding length for the ruffles (dumb dumb dumb) … so I will probably be connecting two stands to make them long enough. I would say when YOU do them, double the length you really want so they will be long enough for you.
I am super excited for the Mouse’s birthday … this is the first year where he’s really ‘got’ what we’re building up to. This past weekend we went shopping for a friend’s birthday gift and he said, ‘I want a toy too!’. I had to remind him that this was her birthday weekend, and next weekend was his, and all his friends would come to his party and bring him presents then. He hasn’t stopped talking about all the ‘new toys!’ he’s going to get since then. lol.
I have a MILLION things to do this week to get ready for the party on Sunday, but before that, husband and I are taking him to our local Legoland Discovery Center as our birthday gift to him. He absolutely LOVES his Duplos, and we’re totally excited to take him out to Legoland and turn him loose.
This truly is SUCH a special age the Mouse is at right now. He is so much fun, and so funny, and absolutely the sweetest thing ever. I feel like sometimes he doesn’t get as much attention as the Froggy does these days … and I am absolutely guilty of that on my end. It makes me happy we’re able to spoil him a little bit on his birthday and make it all about him for a few days.
More to come later as I try not to go completely BSC with cleaning, crafting and organizing this week!
