THE DETAILS.

So this is where I spill the details on the new blog design/rebranding/thing.

Where to start? It’s not that I didn’t like my old blog design, I did. After all, it was my first ‘real’ design and I am and always will be terribly nostalgic about it. But over the past year I have learned so much about blogging, and become such an avid blog reader that I wanted more. I wanted something a little more … grown up? Not sure if I accomplished that … but above all, I wanted something more ME. My wonderful blog designer Becca who runs Jumping Jax Designs {and who had done my original design as well} was so amazing, and so patient, and so helpful. She put all of my elements together for me {because I STINK at Photoshop, lol}.

That being said, the illustrations … my mouse and frog? They’re all mine. I spent hours drawing, and re-drawing, and sketching, and tweaking those puppies until I was really satisfied that I had something I liked. And by the way, mice are MUCH easier the draw than frogs! Once I had them drawn out the way I wanted, I had a really great friend from high school {who won’t let me link back to his site but who is a VERY talented graphic designer and photographer} scan these guys in and clean them up to make really great digital illustrations for me. Oh, the social media icons on the left sidebar? Those are mine too!

All of that took more than a month. When everything was finally in hand, then I sent word to my most amazing site host Aaron with RFE Hosting. Aaron is a whiz with coding … because I have absolutely no patience with doing major coding changes on WordPress, and frankly, with two small boys in my house, I don’t have much patience left as it is, lol. Aaron was amazing with my first site setup, and blew me away, once again. He let me ask a bunch of stupid questions: can we do this? would it be completely weird to do this? what do you mean how many pixels should the sidebars be, I have no idea?

There is still a LOT to do, so you’ll see lot’s of little changes here and there over the next few weeks.
