Get to know your neighborhood blogger …

I did one of these posts about 6 months ago, right after this shiny new domain was introduced … but I thought it might be time for another one. Since then I *supposedly* have a bunch more followers/readers (hi!!!) and I thought you guys might like to partake as well!

This is how it works – you get to ask me anything. Parenting stuff, blogging stuff, photo stuff, mommy stuff … whatever you want. Leave your question in the comments section and I’ll do my best to answer them all (within reason) in Friday’s post. Please, PLEASE, don’t embarrass me by nobody asking any questions. That would be super lame. I need content here you guys!

Plus, this gives me a better idea of what you guys want to read about. Sometimes, I feel like I’m just writing to write, and I have no idea if y’all are out there in cyberspace rolling your eyes at me (which is cool too, but I’d like to avoid awkward situations like that).

So. Questions? You know you want to ask – so ask! Also – best question wins a prize!!!

Okay, no they don’t. No prizes, sorry kids … but you’ll definitely get a shoutout ;)

So, what are y’all thinking for school for the boys?

Kinda lame, but I’m not really thinking of anything and figured some sort of question was better than none and it’s an area of obsession for me right now as I think we are moving our eldest to public school one or two years earlier than I planned based on our surprise twins in progress.

Are you going to have another baby, or are your two boys gonna be it. I guess I’m asking because my hubby and I are in a “discussion” right now about what we want to do. I just have this nagging feeling our family isn’t complete, but he wants to be done. How can you lessen the hurt if hubby doesn’t agree to have another? How can we work out this discussion? My DD is only 9 months old (or just shy of) but the reason I am wanting to discuss this now is because it took us 15 months to get pregnant with DD, and we had to go to an RE…so I need to prepare myself mentally for that possiblity again, and/or decide to try “naturally”…or try to deal with the fact that we might not have another one.

What do you look for in blogs that you read/follow? Who are some of your favorite bloggers?

  4. Bonnie says:

I’m a working mother (redundent I know, but it’s shorter than works-at-a-desk-all-day mom) with very few working mom friends, so one of the things I like the most about your blog (which I’ve been reading for about a year now, bad commenter, bad!) is that you understand the unique struggles that comes with that. Plus my husband goes to school at night and so my 10 month old daughter and I are on our own in the evenings like you are sometimes. So… what are your biggest tricks and tips that make the “working mom” life enjoyable instead of just survivable (I feel like I take a deep breath on Sunday night and then just survive until Friday evening). Thanks and even though I’m bad about telling people, I really do enjoy reading your blog!

Have you ever wanted to live in/move to a different state? I’m from northern WI and couldn’t imagine living with the heat of Texas. (I know it’s lame, but I didn’t want to NOT comment.)

  6. Brenda says:

You need a daughter!! Okay, that is my comment.

Question: How do you survive being a “single” parent after working all day? It is happening more and more that my husband has to work evenings and I feel like I can barely keep my head above water with one child let alone two.

Congratulations on your new job, daycare for mouse, he seems to be adjusting well and surviving your day yesterday – Monday 1/9/12.

I follow several blogs. There is one that had been losing my interest, just today I replaced the tab with a new blog I recently discovered and love so with that, what do you look for in a blog and what would make you no longer follow one?

Also, do you think blogging still has a lot of life left in it or is the next best thing about to replace blogging and blogging will become a thing of the past?

What is your job? If you could change anything about your life, what would it be?

  8. Kristin says:

I have been following since right before you had the froggy, ( I was pregnant with my second boy as well) I am attempting to potty train my almost 3 year old who sounds a lot like the mouse, any tips?

  9. Lisa W. says:

I have been trying to tweak my blog layout lately, but I am not computer savvy. How did you make your blog banner and get you own domain?? (I am currently on blogpsot.) Thanks!!

  10. Kaye says:

What is your favorite crick pot recipe? :) Cause your chicken ‘n dumplings were so amazing I started making them and I need more recipes of yours to steal…I mean, replicate. :)

  11. Mindi says:

I love your blog and don’t comment as often as I should but since your asking…
What are some of your pointers to a successful blog? I would really like to do some reviews of products (because who does’t like free stuff) and just help smaller companies/small businesses esty shop owners. As a knitter of baby items I know how much work goes into well crafted baby “stuff”. How did you start doing PR products/reviews etc? I’m just not sure where to start. Also, what are some of your tips for reaching as many readers as you do?

  12. Cali says:

I have been reading your blog for a while (love it) , but have never commented before, so Hi! Most of my friends don’t have kids, so I was wondering what is your advice for finding support/ other mommies to commiserate with?

  13. Maggie says:

Oh! I’ve got a fun one….hubby and I ask each other this all the time.

If you had to guess, based on your boys’ interests and personalities (hard with the baby, but play along…), what would they grow up to be? Another fun this is to try and guess their personalities and behaviors in high school. For example, we’re 90% sure our first son, Eddie, is going to be the kid that streaks at the football games, lol! And we’ve decided that since Eddie is going to be so crazy, Finn is going to be the one is prepared to fix everything…we say he’s going to have the phone ready to dial 911 when Eddie skateboards off the roof :)

  14. Ellen says:

What are your go to weeknight meals. I am in a cooking/ dinner rut.
Also, when do we get to have your direct line to report a claim? Lol!

  15. nicole says:

i have been following your blog since the mouse was just a babe – discovered it on the bump… just wondering if you still visit the bump? :) i stopped for a while, but i’m back reading some posts because i am having my second lil one next month (my second boy also :)

  16. If you could clap your hands and someone would magically either a) do your laundry b) cook dinner or c) clean the toilets for a year, which would it be? Here’s hoping…

  17. Elizabeth says:

How did the transistion from one kiddo to 2 go? I have a 3 yr old DD and a baby BOY (!) due in May and trying to figure out how to balance it all (my DH also works crazy hours so most times I’m home alone). I’m also trying to figure out how to go from being a girl mom to a girl and boy mom….I know you love your boys more than anything….I’m hoping I can balance girly things (everything we have is pink!) with boy things? Please tell me it will come naturally :)

  18. Kristin says:

What is your nighttime routine when your hubby is at work? I know mine is crazy and hectic when it’s just me!

  19. Kate says:

How do you balance doing things with both boys together – I know your two sons are about the same age gap as mine and sometimes I find it hard to find things for them to play with together. Do you try to keep them playing with separate toys in different areas or do you have a system where they can play together but somehow keep the older toys away from the baby? I guess this is more of an organizational question because I love watching them play together but I don’t love constantly wrestling tiny toys out of the baby’s mouth.

Also – as a mother of two boys – do you feel any pressure (from yourself, husband, family, stranger in a grocery store) to have a girl? We are cooking up a third boy and I am amazed at how many people think we must be disappointed it isn’t a girl.

I have to tell you though, most of the questions answers require a whole blog post … which is great, because there are lots of times I have NO idea what to write about and you guys gave me some great subject matter. It seemed like there was a definite trend towards ‘working mom’ and ‘home with no help’ and ‘blogs?!!!1!’ questions … so I’m saving those for now. I promise I’ll come back to them. [...]
