Consignment Shopping – The Haul

This past Saturday was my Super Bowl. This past Saturday was consignment shopping day!

My local sale, Divine Consign, set up shop at one of their two Fall season sales this weekend. The Plano sale is it’s larger sale, which is why I always volunteer to work the sale, so I can shop early. So shopping was on Saturday, and then the sale opened to the public on Sunday (which is when I worked for them).

I wish I would have taken photos of what the sale looked like when I got there to shop. It was UNBELIEVABLE. Last Fall’s sale boasted over 80,000 items … and there was definitely more this time around. Every.single.room. in the convention center had stuff packed in. There was a whole room of strollers. A whole room of play mats. A whole room of bathing stuff, and feeding, and potty training. There was a gigantic hallway filled with swings and exersaucers and jumperoos. A whole room of huge outdoor play equipment … and let’s not forget the main attraction: almost 22,000 square feet of clothes, small toys, and furniture.

These were taken by me on the first day the sale was open to the public. The stroller selection was 3 times this when I shopped the day before. The clothes on the right is the aisle containing JUST boys clothes 12m to 3t.

::fans self from excitement::

To put it mildly, I cleaned up. These sales are the only time of the year that I let myself go wild, shopping-wise. I save my money, and I yes, I try to set a budget for myself, but I always take more money than that … because you just never know what you’re going to find.

So. What did I get for the kiddos?

For the Mouse:
1 pair windpants
3 pair PJs
1 sweater vest
2 sweaters (Gap, Gymbo)
1 button up shirt (Gap)
1 l/s tee (GAP)
1 s/s Halloween tee (Gap)
1 heavy coat (Osh K’osh)
1 pair brown shoes/boots
1 pair Cars slippers

The Froggy:
8 pair PJs (9 and 12 months)
3 l/s onesies
2 one piece outfits (Gap/Gymbo)
1 sweater outfit (Gap)
1 frog Halloween costume

The other stuff:
Radio Flyer wagon
FP Space Saver Highchair
Plush rocking snail
Band new box of Duplos
Elefun game
6 books
chain link plastic rings
Stacking rings

Total spent? $203

Yep. I did GOOD.

The whole haul. The Radio Flyer wagon looks brand spankin’ new and was $40. The boys are getting it for Christmas.

This rocking-snail is one of those ‘I was totally NOT looking for this’ things that I couldn’t say no to. It was $12!!! It retails online from $63 to $115 new. The Froggy is going to LOVE it for Christmas.

Space Saver highchair … which also looks brand new. $15.

Some of my favorite finds in the clothing sections:

Picture 1427
Gymboree sweater for the Mouse – $6

Picture 1426
GAP sweater for the Mouse – $5

Picture 1429
GAP sweater outfit for the Froggy – $8

Picture 1425
GAP dress shirt ($3) and Carter’s sweater vest ($3)

So yeah, I did awesome … and found a LOT of great stuff for both the boys. There were only a few things on my list that I didn’t find (boots and jeans for the Mouse, and while there were a BUNCH of exersaucers for my MIL’s house, I didn’t have room in my car … lol). There were a lot of things I found that I really wanted to buy … but told myself to hold off on. But MAN, it was hard.

BUT – the Grapevine sale is coming up at the end of September, so I’ll have one more chance to both look for those last few items, and restrain myself from buying every good deal in the building. I’m also selling at the Grapevine sale, and have a HUGE pile ‘o stuff that I HAVE to get together and into the computer by the end of the week (eeek!). It’s the most I’ve consigned at one sale before for sure … it should be interesting trying to get it all together and organized.

Oh who am I kidding, I’m super excited about it, lol.

I absolutely LOVE the red sweater outfit you got for froggy. it’s super adorable! now lets hope that the winter gets cold after this hot summer so that he can wear it :)

you did a great job – love all the stuff you got! how is your selling going?! i am in the process of tagging everything for the JBF sale in Ft. Worth next month. I’m volunteering as well so that I get a higher % of money AND presale! I remember going to the presale as a first time mom while i was pregnant – wow that was a lot to look through AND be very pregnant. This time i’ll have my energy and I will look for xmas gifts (great idea!).

  2. You did great. I went on Sunday and was very disappointed. Most of the girls 18-24 months was threadbare, faded, pilled and just generally worn out. I found 2 outfits. I thought most of the maternity clothes were either way too worn or over priced. I can’t justify spend $30 on a pr of Gap maternity especially when they run 40% off sales now. I went last fall and found tons of stuff in the 6-12 month. I know that kids wear clothes out less then, but most of the clothes I saw this time, I would have had a hard time even giving to goodwill much less trying to consign it was that bad.

I plan on consigning next year so that I can get in early for the pre-sale. I think that is when the best stuff goes. I had a new mom pass last fall, but didn’t this time.

  3. You definitely did great!! LOVE that sweater outfit for Froggy. So stinkin’ adorable!

Holy crap woman!!!! That is an amazing haul!!! I’ve been to some similar sales up here in MA, but they are completely lamesauce in comparison to yours! The clothes that you got are super nice and that wagon is awesome! DS just got that from my ILs for his bday, and it was like $100. Nice job!

  6. Myndee says:

Awesome! All the things you bought look BRAND NEW. The FP highchair is a lifesaver in our small house, too. You’ll love it. The best deal I got at our sale was a co-sleeper for 50.00…hardly used, if at all. :)

I’m already loving our SS highchair … SO excited to get rid of the huge stand alone one we had with the Mouse!

  7. That is so awesome! There are some really cool attachments to that wagon.

  8. Holy score!!! I wish we had something like that around here. I want a SS highchair too! So sick of the gigant-o-tron I registered for.
